I am a populist and liberal and have not voted for a Republican since the one time I
voted for Richard Nixon ... I should have known better. And if the Democrats don't
restore their souls soon, I will not vote for another Democrat, either.
For what little it's worth, here is my view of the current state of our
- Both major parties are under control by the most radical, far-out
elements of each party:
- The Republican Party is under the control of the most reactionary
radicals this nation has ever seen -- religious zealots, bigots,
corporate robber barons, you name it;
- The Democrats, meanwhile, can't make a move without the approval of
left-wing dingbats and have abrogated their historic dedication to working people;
- The growing control of every aspect of our lives by corporations that answer to no one;
- "Economic globalization" that does nothing but corporatize profit and
socialize misery; and,
- The fact that both political parties are now nothing but an extension of corporate

The administration of "President" George W. Bush is mounting an
all-out attack on civil liberties, individual rights, labor and environmental law, and
individual freedom unlike any such attack ever before seen in America. Operating since
September 11, 2001, under the guise of "national security," Attorney General
John Ashcroft -- in league with the most backward, reactionary forces in this nation --
seeks to roll back our freedoms to somewhere before the 19th century.
This link takes you to my challenge to John Ashcroft
with links to my articles about the Bush junta's attacks on American freedom.

- No Place to Live. As of November 2002, there is
not a single jurisdiction in the entire United States where an individual, working full
time at minimum wage, can afford the fair market rent on a 2-bedroom single-family home.
Does this fact make you proud to be an American?

America's largest organization of low and moderate-income families. Quoted from
their web site:
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation's largest community
organization of low and moderate-income families, with over 120,000 member families
organized into 600 neighborhood chapters in 45 cities across the country. Since 1970 ACORN® has taken action and won
victories on issues of concern to our members. Our priorities include: better housing for
first time homebuyers and tenants, living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in
our communities from banks and governments, and better public schools. We achieve these
goals by building community organizations that have the power to win changes -- through
direct action, negotiation, legislation, and voter participation.
Statement of purpose from their web site:
"America's Future will insist that the question of falling wages and rising
insecurity be placed at the center of our national debate. We will challenge those who
suggest that nothing can be done and expose the conservative agenda that has made things
worse. America's Future will work to revitalize a progressive agenda, and fight to make
this economy work for working people once again. We will engage citizens, activists and
political leaders in a renewed debate about the kind of country - and the kind of world -
we want to build for the generations yet to come."
Statement from their web site:

I DEFY John Ashcroft, the FBI, or any other federal "law enforcement agency"
to visit me as a result of my exercise of my free speech rights. And to start with,
Mr. Ashcroft, you need to know that I own: (1) a firearm; (2) a copy of The
Anarchist's Cookbook; and, (3) a book on the history of Islam. So, come get me
-- I'm one dangerous man.
